17 Series Flex-Neck with Gas Valve and 12.5 ft. 1 Piece Ultra-Flex Cable

The Nova 17 series torch is based on the standard 17 series torch available throughout the industry.  The Gas Valve version of the Nova 17 series torch uses NOVA 17, 26 or 18 series torch consumables as well as any standard 17,26, or 18 series torch from any other brand. This type torch was originally classified as a series "3" torch early on in its development by the original manufacturer of TIG torches to refer to a specific size.  Later down the line, the 17 and 26 series (and their variants) sprang from this type of torch, with the 26 being a bit larger to handle higher amps  Consumables are identical to the 26 and 18 as previously stated, but the handle girth and overall foot print is smaller, close to the 9 in girth and length (if you discount the larger consumables this torch accepts).  It is a good option when the 9 series proves too light for daily chores.   If you use the NOVA Stubby consumable kit, the 17 resembles the 9 in size and profile since this kit adapts the 17 to use the smaller, more compact 9 and 20 (old classification: series 2) consumables.  The 17 series was standardized throughout the industry as a medium-sized 150 Amp class, air-cooled torch. The Gas Valve NOVA 17 Flex head torch features an adjustable neck and gas valve.  This torch is intended for those customers that require a flexible neck for easier access to awkward locations and for improved operator comfort.  The flex head internal structure is made from heavy-duty coiled copper wire to allow the unit to flex 35º from the level plane in any direction. The gas valve allows the operator to use the torch as a "DC TIG Rig" where lift start and scratch start DC is used.   The gas valve located on the handle rotates to allow the operator to control gas flow instead of the machine.  This is ideal for use with DC power sources or DC portable welders where a gas solenoid is not built into the machine.  While this torch is generally used as a DC TIG rig, the torch also works well with any TIG welder with built in gas solenoid (providing you leave the gas valve in the open position). The one piece Ultra-Flex cable included in this package is silicone based and is sheathed in a protective, abrasion resistant covering.  The "Ultra" flexible and light weight cable design further reduces operator fatigue and allows more precise manipulation.
